The duration of courses is set by the course providers. This can range from three (3) to six (6) months or more.

The tuition and assessment fees for the courses will be paid for selected participants. There is also support available for participants based on a needs basis. This can be a stipend or assistance for transportation for those unable to cover that cost.

Courses are delivered by approved training providers at centres they have selected. In the case of a provider such as the National Skills Development Centre (NSDC), classes are held on their premises at various locations around the island. As regards the National Education Learning Unit (NELU), classes are usually held at Secondary Schools in the evening.

We plan to offer the following services to our programme participants:

  • Access to personal computers for typing, email and online research
  • Career advice and guidance

Ideally we hope all our programme participants will pursue the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) certification course. This is recognised and accepted throughout the Caribbean so it’s highly portable.

There is also a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) certification course. This is a local issued qualification and recognised here in Saint Lucia only.

Some training providers issue their own private certificates at the end of their programmes. The acceptance or recognition of such by employers and the public cannot be guaranteed.

After you complete your course, you can follow any of the following paths.

  • Take part in a job training attachment programme
  • Complete a certification assessment. This means apply to have an assessor test you in order for you to become certified
  • Seek employment
  • Open your own business. Note as mentioned earlier there is assistance (seed capital) for CVQ certified participants to help start their business.
