Our initial focus group following the the Workforce Development Centre is youth (15-35 years) from the southern belt of the island (Dennery to Anse La Raye). Part of the strategy to assist in the recruitment of potential participants has been to liaise with the Youth and Sports Council to leaders of the various target communities. As of 20th of March 2022, we have met with the executive members of six (6) Youth and Sports Councils – Anse La Raye, Canaries, Vieux Fort North, Vieux Fort South, Mon Repos and Mabouya Valley. Our team actually made it to Dennery for a schedule meeting but it was called off last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Micoud’s meeting also had to be rescheduled because some of the executive officers became unavailable.
Meetings with youth leaders from Desruisseaux, Laborie and Choiseul will be scheduled shortly. The postponed Dennery and Micoud meetings will be rescheduled.
The meetings have been highly engaging and productive. The youth leaders have been enthusiastic, supportive of the programme and all cases, have come up with vital questions and valuable ideas which provided enlightenment in many areas.
